About Us

In late 2025, from the East Wing day room table, at the Carol Vance unit, the concept of "Stirred" was created by Michael Darter. He is also know as Texas Department of Justice Inmate #. That's right, Stirred was developed by a prisoner currently serving a 10 year sentence. Stirred came about after a Bible study in which Michael was inspired by reading Hebrews 10:24, "And let us consider one another to stir up love and good works" (NKJV). His spirit was stirred and he was called to action. After much thought, research, study, councel and prayer, Michael knew it was God's will for him to establish Stirred to help people live more meaningful and satisfying life. He also new he had to make it personal.

We are a biblical guide to the 12 steps program. We use the Life Recovery Workbook that integrates the 12 steps of recovery with a biblical perspective, offering scriptural principles for personal application. This approach helps individuals contextualize their recovery journey within a faith-based framework. The workbook format provides a structured method for reflection, guidance, and practical application of recovery principles.
